An artist impression of what the new US$28 million Brickdam Police Station will look like when completed.
Kaieteur News – The Certifying Office currently located in the compound of the Brickdam Police Station, will be relocated to Ruimveldt to facilitate the construction of the new complex which will serve as the ‘A’ Division Headquarters.
Construction works have already begun and according to a notice on the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Facebook page, the relocation will take effect from Monday 29th January, 2024 and persons can visit the new location at the Ruimveldt Police Station, for all certification needs until advised otherwise by the force.
This publication recently reported that following the devastating fire in 2021 which destroyed over 80 percent of the Brickdam Police Station structure, on Monday the sod was turned to kickstart the construction of the new US$28,140,000 station.
The new 12-storey complex which will be built at the current Brickdam location will be constructed by contractor R. Bassoo and Sons Construction Company in partnership with Qing Jian Group Company (CNQC) out of China.
The construction of the new state-of-the-art building is expected to be completed in 30 months and upon completion it will house the operation of the Divisional Headquarters for ‘4 A’ (Georgetown) and will feature central departments such as traffic, finance, the impact base, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) among others.
