Kaieteur Sports – Untouchable and Hibernia Strikers registered comfortable wins last Sunday in the continuation of the Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) T20, Over-40 round-robin competition.
And in the two other fixtures, Caribbean Cricket Club and Essequibo Legends claimed walk-overs from Invaders Masters and Devonshire Castle Sports Club respectively.
At Queenstown Community Centre ground, Untouchable defeated Queenstown Tigers by seven wickets. Tigers only mustered a meagre 69 all out off 14.1 overs while Untouchable replied with 70-3 in the 9th over with extras being the top-score of 24.
And at Hibernia facility, Hibernia Strikes whipped Reliance Sports Club by a comprehensive 10-wicket margin.
Reliance Sports Club batted first and made an inadequate 125 all out in the 17th over while the hosts surpassed the target with a whopping 13 overs to spare.
Prem Persaud made 24 for Reliance Sports Club as D. Wallace and R.Latchman grabbed 3-27 and 2-18 respectively, delivering for the winner.
Meanwhile, the two semi-finals are slated for this Sunday at Reliance Sports ground also on the Essequibo Coast, Region 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
At 10 am, Hibernia Strikers will tackle Invaders Masters and then from 1 pm, Caribbean Cricket Club coming up against Essequibo Legends.
The championship game is billed for the following Sunday at the same venue. Some high-profile softball players are expected to feature on Sunday are: Patrick Rooplall, who is a pugnacious opening batsman with two double-centuries in previous competitions, another seasoned player Ramesh Narine, Latchmikant Narine, Ravi Beharry, Roy Gonsalves, Eqwaas Baksh among others.
