The “Argyle Agreement” is a win for Guyana. We can now breathe a sigh of relief, continue the dialogue and take other actions with our partners to protect our territorial integrity.
The President’s unwavering gumption and inspiring leadership must be admired.
Perhaps I would have reworded clause 9 (by deleting “territory in dispute”) to read “Both states committed to a follow-up meeting in Brazil within the next three months, or as otherwise agreed, to discuss any matters impacting their shared interests, including the update on the established joint commission”. This is a minor point – a win is a win.
