Waterfalls Magazine – After a three-year absence due to the pandemic, the ‘Miss Crane’ Pageant has returned and according to the organisers, this year, it’s a pageant with a difference.
The pageant is aimed at instilling confidence in young girls within the Crane area on the West Coast of Demerara and it is an opportunity to showcase their beauty and intelligence and to serve as a forum to build their self-esteem and empowerment skills. This year’s promoter, Sean Swan, popularly known as “Fresh” decided that for the 5th edition of the pageant, he wanted to have delegates with pageantry and modeling experience due to a tight timeframe for training and other activities.
The Miss Crane Pageant is slated to be held on December 30th, 2023 at Lot 322 Crane Housing Scheme and will see seven beautiful ladies competing for the crown and grand prize, as well as runner-up prizes. This year’s contestants who will grace the stage are more mature when compared to previous years and this time around; a swimsuit segment has been introduced.
Saran Ann Braithwaite, 21, is the CEO, manager and founder of Sarah’s Unique Braids and Beauty studio and Caribbean Glow skin care products. She is a teacher, model, entrepreneur and designer whose favourite colour is yellow. “I’m a passionate, determined and kind individual who loves to crochet in my spare time.” Adams is the only daughter of her parents and she said, “I have four strong brothers by my side.” She said, “It would be a privilege to contribute my time and effort into another village with a greater voice, I want to leave my impact on the youths and people of Crane.”
Makeda Adams, a resident of Pouderoyen. Adams is a teacher and she said, “I am a strong believer that everyone has the right to a choice and to make their own choices.” She is a nature lover and a fun person to be around, she said. Anasa Williams, 24, is a journalist who loves nature and all things natural. A self-taught makeup artist, business owner and aspiring heart surgeon, she said modeling and pageantry have been her long-term hobbies. “I joined this pageant to have a feel of the stage in another part of Guyana after a few years and to also inspire others that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.”
