Waterfalls Magazine – Over 200 students graduated from the Linden Technical Institute on Thursday December 7, 2023 when the institution hosted its annual graduation and prize giving ceremony at the Egbert Benjamin Exhibition and Conference Centre in the mining town.
The graduates were awarded for their outstanding achievement throughout their studies at the institution.
The ceremony, which was held under the theme, “Fostering and Cultivating Technical and Vocational Education Through Cohesion Now and Beyond,” saw a packed programme with a diverse line-up of speakers.
They included guest speaker, Alicia Bess-Anderson, workforce development advisor at ExxonMobil Guyana, Mayor of Linden Sharma Solomon, and Camille Cummings, Linden Technical Institute board member.
Amongst the awardees, was the best overall graduating student, John Anthony from the Building Department: Electrical Installation-Level 2 and best first year student Okeisha Hope also of the Building Department.
Prizes were also awarded to the best first year students and they include Shane Tappin, Jenn Hartman, Dalhia Peters, Tyrel Stephen, Caylan D’Oliveria, Daniel Mardenborough and Sherrod Sumner.
On the entertainment side of things, the attendees were treated to a dance, poem, musical rendition and song by the institute’s choir which added a splash of flair to the auspicious occasion.
The graduates were encouraged to put their best foot forward and to continue to strive for excellence as they continue on their academic and professional journey.
