Kaieteur Sports – Action got underway this past Sunday with huge wins for Rose Hall Pepsi and Albion who opened their accounts following the opening round of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) sponsored U23 competition.
Rose Hall Town Pepsi inflicted a 5-wicket defeat onto the boys from Kendall Union during their match at the Area H Ground. Kendall made a paltry 129 all out in 24 overs batting first, with M. Baker (30) and K. Parmanal (41), leading their batting.
However, the Rose Hall bowlers led by star spinner Matthew Pottaya (3-24), Lucas Arthur (3-25) and Jeremy Sandia (3-20), put on a clinic with the ball, thus ensuring victory in the end.
Rose Hall Pepsi then surged to 130-5 in 17 overs after Sandia returned to hit an unbeaten 30,with Tyreece Sealey (29) Romesh Bharrat (15), R. Koobeer (20) and Sohil Mohamed (10*), all reaching double figures in a collective winning effort.
In another game, Albion defeated Edinburgh by 8 wickets at Jai Hind Ground following a rampant assault. Edinburgh was mowed down for 55 all out in 15.4 overs thanks to a magical spell from Shiv Harripersaud who bagged 6 for 18 in 6 overs.
Soon enough, Albion in reply raced to 56 for 2 in just six overs, led by Ari Afrizal Kadir, who championed the chase with an unbeaten 40.
Action continues this weekend.
