The Government of Guyana must be commended for the robust and multi-pronged approach it is taking in defence of our sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of provocative actions by the Maduro administration.
The fact that Guyana has got the backing of regional, hemispheric and global organizations such as CARICOM, the OAS, the Commonwealth Secretariat and the European Union is testimony to the good work by President Ali, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo and the entire PPP/C administration.
The undisputed reality is that the Maduro administration is becoming increasingly isolated on the global stage for its recent actions which are posing a threat to peace in the region. The Caribbean is designated as a Zone of Peace and the actions of the Maduro administration in relation to its bogus claim to Guyana’s territory is now posing a danger to peace and stability in the region.
Make no mistake about it. Essequibo is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of Guyana. This realty cannot be negated by any referendum nor by the whimsical utterances or actions by the Maduro administration. The 1899 Arbitral Tribunal is final and legally binding and cannot be unilaterally altered at the whims and fancies of the Venezuelan government.
The world is behind Guyana on this issue and so are the entire Guyanese nation who are resolute in defence of our homeland. As pointed out both by President Ali and Vice-President Jagdeo, when it comes to the protection of our sovereignty and territorial integrity Guyana is prepared for any eventuality and all options are on the table.
Regards,
Hydar Ally
