– Carroll named MVP, Mckenzie cops Best Defender/Keeper awards
Kaieteur Sports – After a tough day of action, Jai Signs emerged winners of the one-day 7-Aside Hockey tournament played on Monday; hosted by the Hikers Hockey club.
In the final match, Jai Signs defeated Gift Box thanks to strikes from Jabez Walters in the 14th minute with support from Randy Hope in the 17th minute.
The event held at Everest, was sponsored by Demerara Mutual, Guinness, Trophy Stall | Jai Signs, INET, GIFTBOX, Coles Printing, Sensodyne, Muse, Germans and others, with the aim of bringing different players together in a competitive, yet cohesive manner with the aim of winning the title.
The early strikes were all it took for Jai to storm past their opponents, winning by a 2-0 scoreline, giving the winners their second championship title. Giftbox who played in their first tournament was awarded the silver medal.
Individual awards saw Lennox Carrol from Team Gift Box being named MVP. On the other side, Best Keeper/Defender went to the captain of Team Jai Signs, Kareem Mckenzie, with awards being made possible compliments of Mother’s Kitchen, C-Mobile and LeZo Logistics.
Hikers also took the time to say thanks to their players and sponsors for making the tournament possible.
