Kaieteur Sports – The prestigious Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) will be holding its traditional Boxing Day horse race meet on December 26th.
The club which is situated at Bush Lot Farm Corentyne Berbice has already begun preparations with rehabilitation works ongoing at the venue.
The club is now under the stewardship of Matriarch, Honorary President Mrs. Chan Kennard. She took over the reins of the Club from her late husband Retired Chancellor, Justice Cecil Kennard and has been doing a splendid job.
Mrs. Kennard is well learned and has been associated with the sport of horse racing for decades with close to 60 years of involvement in the activity. She is one of the seniors still around since the days of Durban Park.
The KMTC is being dubbed the premiere horse racing facility in the country with several requirements for proper horse race meets in place. It undoubtedly has the best facilities among the horse racing tracks in Guyana.
The KMTC has constantly been doing work on the track in an effort to keep the turf in excellent shape.
The club has also taken the decision to help small owners. It has decided to concentrate on staging races mostly for local owners and those of the lower classes especially those classified G and lower.

It has also decided to pay all prize money before the end of the day’s proceedings.
The Boxing Day meet is one of the biggest meets organised by the club.
