Waterfalls Magazine – In recognition of World Artist Day which was observed on Wednesday, Guyanese artist, Compton Babb presented a well-detailed 5’X4’ portrait to the businessman.
Mr. Babb who did his first professional oil painting in 2017 presented the piece to the businessman at his Houston property on Tuesday evening.
It took him at least 12 weeks (1600 hours) of hard work and uninterrupted concentration to complete the masterpiece.
Babb who also celebrated his birthday on Wednesday said he was delighted to have done the portrait of the businessman which adds to his list of paintings done for prominent people in Guyana, the Caribbean and further afield.
The painting was actually done to show appreciation to Mr Mohamed for all he has done for Guyanese over the years. He labeled the piece, “A soul within a soul.”
The overarching of his shoulders, he explained showcase the businessman’s humility and hospitality and more so, his warm affection to people of all walks of life.
As such, the artist thanked Mr. Mohamed for his courtesy extended to him and his team for allowing them into his private space.
Also, he expressed gratitude to James Bond and Gypsy Persaud for making this possible.
However, Mr Mohamed was appreciative to Mr. Babb and his team for choosing him to do the portrait.
In addition, he commended the artist for the piece which was done to perfection and of high quality and standard.
He thanked Mr Babb for the masterpiece and extended belated wishes to him on his birth anniversary. (Team Mohamed Facebook)
