– Action tees off from today
Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Golf Association (GGA), NexGen Golf Academy and the Westside Golf Course will collaborate to host its 7th annual fundraising event for Breast Cancer Awareness this weekend at the Scout Association Ground on Woolford Avenue.
Golf action is set to tee off from 16:00h today and continues tomorrow, Sunday from 15:00h. Fans and golfers will be given the opportunity to learn, play and participate in GolFun activities such as Driving, Chipping and Putting to experience the exhilaration of golf and also win prizes.
Everyone is welcome to participate on Sunday and there are no entry fees (all donations will go to the Cancer Institute). This weekend’s golf activities are to prepare golfers of all skill levels for the Guyana Golf Open Championship set for November 4 & 5th at the Westside Golf Course which will be open to all Guyanese and levels of players at no cost, according to GGA president Aleem Hussain.
Flashback! GGA executives, sponsors alongside former US Ambassador to Guyana Sarah Ann-lynch during a previous edition of the competition.
The executive team at Westside Golf explained, “The Guyana Golf Open Championship does not permit fees to be charged for players since it’s for all Guyanese to experience the game and there should be no barriers. We will even provide equipment and Golf balls for beginners so there’s no reason anyone could not participate.”
Players will be treated to music, food, and prizes along with complimentary massages and lots of giveaways from long-term sponsors of golf development in Guyana who have helped the GGA, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, to promote the sport to thousands of young players over the past two years.
