Kaieteur Sports – The highly successful relationship between the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club MS and the National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO) was renewed for another year on Monday during a simple presentation ceremony at the company’s Agricola Village Head Office, East Bank Demerara. The renewal for another year was signed by NAMILCO Managing Director Bert Sukhai and RHTYSC, MS Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster in the presence of the company marketing coordinator Alicia Anderson.
Foster, who is also the President of the active Berbice Cricket Board, stated that NAMILCO has been the official sponsor of the club’s under21 and first division teams since late 2019 and the teams were very delighted that the relationship was renewed. The RHTYSC Secretary noted that the teams were very proud to represent the NAMILCO brand on and off the cricket field as the company was a true friend to them and their club.

The Rose Hall Town NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour team has been the most dominant first team in Berbice recently and has won several tournaments while producing numerous national players at all levels for Guyana. Last year the RHTYSC produced a combined twenty two players for Guyana, while another fifteen members played for the country in 2023. They include Razam Kobeer, Sohail Mohamed, Tameshwar Deochand, Matthew Pottaya, Jonathan Rampersaud, Jeremy Sandia, Rafeal Mckenzie, Plaffina Millington, Shemaine Campbelle, Sheneeta Grimmond, Shakabi Gajnabi, Junior Sinclair, Kelvon Anderson, Kevin Sinclair, Kelvon Anderson and Clinton Pestano.
Campbelle was named the vice captain of the West Indies female team while Rampersaud and Pottaya served as vice captain of the national under19 and under17 teams respectively. Junior Sinclair was named as the best emerging player of the 2023 Caribbean Premier League. Rampersaud and Pottaya were the leading bowler for Guyana at the junior level while Sandia also performed well with the ball.
Kevin Sinclair was named the leading all rounder in the CWI four day regional tournament and also represented the West Indies at the 20/20 and ODI level while was called up at the test level as well. Kelvon Anderson also scored his maiden first class century – a brilliant 153. Foster also proudly announced that the RHTYSC also produced a total of six players for this year’s CPL and have a total of three players on the Guyana Cricket Board contracted players list. The RHT Namilco first division team under the leadership of acting captain Clinton Pestano on Saturday last reached the finals of the BCB 2023 Ivan Madray 20/20 tournament. The captain Kelvon Anderson and Kevin Sinclair are currently with the Guyana one day team in Trinidad for the Cricket West Indies 50 overs tournament.
Foster also disclosed that the teams were successful in completing over sixty self development programmes under the sponsorship. They include annual cricket academy, Grade six summer camps, Tribute to Medical Workers, Tribute to Town Council Workers, Tribute to Law Enforcement Officers, Walter Nero Tribute to Fathers, Jessica Sandia Tribute to Mothers, Annual Magazine and restoration work at the Area H ground among others.
The teams also made numerous donations to churches, schools and public hospitals. The Therapy Unit of the Port Mourant Hospital also benefited from a major donation of exercise equipment, office supplies, medical items and cleaning supplies at the cost of over three hundred thousand dollars. The teams are currently preparing to host a massive outreach programme with overseas doctors and nurses along with the club 34th annual Christmas charity programme and Christmas Village.
Foster on behalf of the team committed to continue representing the NAMILCO brand with pride, discipline and dedication.
Managing Director Bert Sukhai in brief remarks stated that his company was very pleased to be associated with the cricket teams and was very satisfied with its investment. He noted that his company receives regular progress reports and public relations benefits. He congratulated the players on a job well done and wished them all the best in the future. NAMILCO apart from the cricket sponsorship also supports other programmes of the club.
