Kaieteur Sports – A fine half century by Hemraj Garbarran coupled by a tidy spell from leg spinner Lookeshwar Mahabeer (Vick) handed host Everest Cricket Club Masters of Georgetown a comfortable 64-run victory over Woodland Sports Club Masters of Trinidad and Tobago when the teams collided in a T20 fixture on Tuesday.
Garbarran struck seven fours and one six in a top score of 56 while Rawle Brown made 37 with one four and two sixes to lead Everest CC Masters to a challenging 178-8, batting first. The pair added 80 for the fifth wicket to steady the innings nicely as they executed some fine shots of both sides of the pitch. Opener Sahadeo Hardaiow made 27 off 12 balls while Steven Ramkissoon took 2-21 for the visitors. Woodland SC Masters were never in the hunt as the folded for 114 in reply. Ricky Samaroo made 23 as Mahabeer, bowling with variation, led the destruction, grabbing 4-12.
Garbarran and Mahabeer, both West Indies Masters players took the best batsman and best bowler prizes respectively, sponsored by Trophy Stall. Everest CC Masters collected the winning prize, a trophy, compliments of Davo and Ramnauth Sanaise, in memory of the late Roopchand Sanaise who was a former president of Cosmos Sports Club of Trinidad and Tobago.
Captain of the home team Rajesh Singh expressed gratitude to the visiting team for making a trip of Everest CC and said they are always weclome at the facility. He stated that Everest Masters will be happy to honour a return fixture. Manager of the team Satyandra Khemraj expressed delight of hosting the Woodland Masters. Ramnauth Sanaise of the visiting team thanked Everest Masters for their hospitality and said they will be happy to host them in the Twin Island Republic.
