Kaieteur Sports – Linden staged an impressive comeback to defeat Rupununi with a score of 3-1, maintaining their undefeated record in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/NAMILCO Thunderbolt ‘Flour Power’ Under 17 National Academy Playoffs fixture at the Wisburg Secondary School ground Sunday last.
The match got off to a slow start, with a rather lackluster opening period. Rupununi managed to break the deadlock, courtesy of a seventh-minute goal by Guy Moses, leading 1-0 as the first half concluded.
However, the Linden team regrouped and turned the game around with a remarkable performance in the second half. In a span of just a few minutes, they netted three goals to secure the victory.
Rodersio Tudor was the first to strike, leveling the scores at 1-1 in the 54th minute. Shortly after, Shemaiah Samuels found the back of the net in the 56th minute, propelling Linden to a 2-1 lead. After that, Region 9 struggled to regain their composure.
In the 60th minute, Linden sealed the deal with their third goal, courtesy of Omarion Ramsammy, securing a 3-1 win.
Linden now boasts a perfect record with two wins from two matches. Their first victory came against West Demerara, where they triumphed 4-1. Meanwhile, Rupununi had also previously recorded a win, defeating West Demerara with a 4-3 scoreline.
