Kaieteur Sports – The first leg in the Annual National Draughts competition was played last Sunday at the GFC pavilion.
Esan Anderson with 25 points took an unassailable lead in the tournament with his closest rivals being Navin Meighbarran and Aubrey Rowe with 20 points each. A tie breaker saw Rowe taking the nod over Navin. President of GFC Mr. Ivor English clinched the fourth spot with 13 valuable points.
Trophies and medals were awarded to the top four finishers sponsored by Trophy Stall Bourda Market and Elias Gentle Attorney at Law.
Mr. English vouched to assist with the enhancement of Draughts. Sponsorship and venues are the two main setbacks of the Association.
The top four finishers in the competition along with ‘A’ class players will do battle this weekend in the second leg. Details to be released later.
Guyana Beverage Inc. (Busta) is the tournament provider of non alcoholic beverages.
