Dear Editor,
Lincoln Lewis’s letter in another newsprint on September 26,2023, berating Aubrey Norton for readily kowtowing to the Ali’s administration’s stance about Venezuela’s attempt to undermine Guyana’s position on the border imbroglio, is both perplexing and arrogant. This sensitive situation involves ALL Guyanese. By default, Lewis’s mental circumcision of the situation and egregious attempt to be relevant is glaring and suspicious. Lewis also made historical reference to a similar Jagan/ Burnham compromise generations ago. So, with this “font” of historical knowledge, I now pose two (2) questions for Mr. Lewis:
Question#1 : Did you, Lewis, proactively engage the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Norton on this subject, BEFORE Mr. Norton’s explicit support of the current Government of Guyana’s position?
Question#2: Did you, Lewis, reactively undertake to have dialogue with Mr. Norton to understand his decision AFTER Mr. Norton, as Opposition Leader, pitched in his support to the GOG?
If not, I can only theorize that Lewis, with overweening conceit, is attempting to discredit Mr. Norton and by extension, the entire Opposition, by engaging the press/social media in order to discredit Mr. Norton’s position.
What is in it for you, as a Trade Unionist, Lewis? Political platitude or bromide – illusory problem solving?
Regards,
Subrian, Esq.
