Linden Foundation oppose Christianburg Wismar ‘Multi, and Harmony face Mackenzie High
Kaieteur Sports – This afternoon there will be double header elimination matches in the inaugural Linden Mayor’s Cup Under-21 Schools basketball championship at the Retrieve Hard Court in Linden.
Those matches to decide two of three group winners, start with the first game from 2.30pm as Linden Foundation take on the Christianburg Wismar Secondary in a Group C clash and the other at 4.00pm between Group B teams Mackenzie High and Harmony Secondary.
This tournament which is being held in observance of Education Month is organized through the Education Department of Region 10 in collaboration with the Linden Mayor and Town Council, Brusches Basketball Foundation and Kings Basketball Club.
Both Linden Foundation Secondary and Christianburg Wismar Secondary have wins over the other team in Group C, Marcia Craig Educational Institute.
While Christianburg Wismar ‘Multi’ earned a walkover victory, Linden Foundation had to take the court and win on Monday to make this clash a deciding one.
In Group B the third team is New Silvercity Secondary who beat Harmony Secondary and lost to the Mackenzie High School. New Silvercity Secondary, therefore, are hoping that Harmony can upset Mackenzie High so that there is a FIBA Classification Rule chance to favour them topping the group.
But Mackenzie High having already beaten New Silvercity Secondary will seek to eliminate such a configuration with an expected win to remain unbeaten and top the group to advance.
Come Friday there is one game in Group A where Kwakwani Secondary and Linden Technical Institute, both beating the other team Wisburg Secondary in exciting fashion, now clash to see which of the two will go through to the three-way finals.
The finals start next Wednesday at the Retrieve Hard Court.
