Kaieteur Sports – Spartans Cricket Club defeated Everest/ACS by a solid 39-run margin to claim the 2023 New York National Cricket League (NYNCL) 30-overs trophy played last Sunday at Baisley Pond.

Debutant team Spartans Cricket Club took first knock after winning the toss and piled on a respectable 226-7 from the 30-overs while Everest/ACS, in reply, reached 187-8 from the 30-overs.
Dedinauth Persaud hit an impressive 50 to lead the way for the victorious side. He hit three sixes and five fours while he got support from opener Derick Narine with 45. Chris Pattadin and Captain Wasim Haslim chipped in with 29 and 24 respectively.
Former Guyana youth player Yadram Bhaskar, the medium-pacer, snatched 4-23 from his maximum six overs and Damion Jacobs with 2-44 off five expensive overs.
When Everest/ACS batted, Trinson Carmichael stroked a fighting 66 which comprised of two sixes and three fours. Avin Gangadin made 34 and 31 from Oraine Williams. Haslim returned with the ball to prove his all-round capability by grabbing 3-43 in his six overs. He got useful support from Javed Karim and Rajiv Ivan with two wickets each.
Persaud was named the player-of-the-match for his fine batting performance. He received a trophy for the effort. The winning side also took home a trophy.
