Linden Mayor’s Cup U-21 Schools Basketball
Kaieteur Sports – Two more matches in the Linden Mayor’s Cup Under-21 basketball tournament will be played this afternoon at the Amelia’s Ward Hard Court.
In the first game this at 2.30pm in Group C, Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute will challenge the Linden Foundation Secondary and the other is between Group B’s Mackenzie High and New Silvercity Secondary from 4.00pm.
In the latest game played on Wednesday the Technical Institute (LTI) hammered Wisburg Secondary 66-8 in a Group A scrap, which was the only match played of what was a scheduled double header; where Marcia Craig Educational Institute did not appear to face the Christianburg Wismar Secondary ‘Multi’ who won their Group C match via a walkover.
When the tournament got off last Friday at the Retrieve Hard Court, Kwakwani gained a rampant 50-3 win against Wisburg Secondary while Mackenzie High disposed of New Silvercity Secondary 26-20.
In that lone fixture played Wednesday at the New Silversity Hard Court, LTI were spearheaded by Killon Phillips who top scored with 22 points, as Kimol Grimmond got 16 and Lerone Joseph scored eight.
Romani Richards netted seven points for Wisburg who suffered another loss and cannot advance from their group.
From the three groups of three in this nine team initial round robin play, one team will advance and those three will contest for the championship.
