Bats, balls, pads and helmets included
Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Police Force continues on their community relation programmes across the country as they use various means to help enhance relationship between the police and the various communities.
The latest act of police community blending was conducted at Region 3 West Demerara Essequibo Islands.
Led by Commander Assistant Commissioner Khali Pareshram, and other senior and junior officers including Woman Assistant Superintendent D. Handy, Inspector Chunia, the police in collaboration with other stake holder of the Belle Vue, West Bank Demerara, area mobilized and held a meeting with members of the cricket club in the area. Following the engagement the police distributed a number of sports gear to members of the club. The gear included cricket bats, balls, pads and helmets among other equipment.
The Police team also donated ten sacks of cement and six lengths of steel rods to the club to help them kick start rehabilitation works at the venue.
The police plans to make it a regular exercise in Belle Vue and other communities.
The players were grateful for the donation and thanked the team for their act of kindness and generosity. They pledged to care the gear and make the best use of the items received. (Samuel Whyte)
