Kaieteur Sports – Indrajeet Nanan cracked a half-century century along with contributions from Nkosi Beaton and their bowlers, helped Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) beat West Demerara yesterday during their final of the Demerara leg.
At the famous Bourda Ground, batting first, DCC piled on 207 all out with Indrajeet Nanan showing his class with the bat, as he punched 55 off 61 balls with 8 fours 2 sixes.
Nkosi Beaton, also followed up his good form for DCC with a solid knock of 43 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes off 54 deliveries. Another In-form batter, Ezekiel Wilson was next best run-getter with 30 off just 26 with 2 fours and a maximum.
West Demerara had a decent bowling outing with Ushardeva Balgobin leading the charge for his team, snatching 5 wickets for 39 runs including 2 maidens.
A sterling contribution of 75 off 82 deliveries with 8 fours and a six, from Sachin Balgobin sought to give West Demerara some hope as they were kept to 170, thanks to clinical bowling.
Team work from Daniel Mootoo 3-77 and his partners in Kareem Witney and skipper Jonathan Van Lange who bagged 2 wickets each, kept DCC in the driver’s seat, up until their side were home safely, by 37 runs.
