Dear Editor,
Allow me to firstly congratulate the participants of the 8th Annual Youth Parliament.
Additionally, allow me to extend gratitude to the staff at Parliament and mentors that did not have an easy task, but still did their best and ensured we were taken care of and trained us to the best of their ability.
I can say Youth Parliament was more than just a friendly competition; it was a family and a home that we got to witness.
I’m sure everyone took away some lesson, some valuable advice, and an unforgettable experience.
Without a doubt, we made a mark and I would like to commend us all.
Youth Parliament has so much happening behind closed doors, there was much hard work and dedication our youths, our mentors and the team of staff put in to make it possible.
Aside from catering, transportation, food and a place to stay; we were given love.
We can never forget this experience.
Taking away, I realised how one can contribute or take away to the time and effort of oneself and others.
The mentors worked exceptionally well, with each and every Youth Parliamentarian every step of the way.
This initiative has brought life to persons’ whose love and passion for public speaking is visible. Moving forward, the biggest message we took away from Youth Parliament is it is never Opposition versus Government. It is Opposition and Government for the people of Guyana.
It was no easy task. There were also some first-time babies, who had to overcome fear and put themselves out there. There were many recognised for their skills, wits and knowledge.
There is hope to know our Youths are being recognised and we are proud to know we made some contribution to a better future.
Written in good faith.
Ms. Saaya Prasad
