Kaieteur Sports – Kyle Karran and his 18-year-old twin-brother Kristopher Karran struck a century each last Sunday in representation for Cool Runningz against Panthers as the 2023 Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association (ORSCA)/T20 Playoff segment got underway.
Playing at the Emancipation Park at Dixee-407 in Brampton, the right-handed Kyle fashioned an impressive 132 while his sibling Kristopher carved out an equally attractive 102.
They shared a magnificent, unbroken 249-run second-wicket stand, perhaps historical since the formation of the ORSCA in 2011.
Their team galloped to a daunting 249-1 from the 20-overs while Panthers, in reply, reached 152 all out from 20-overs. They lost by 97 runs.
Kyle batted with more aggression despite he was put down on few occasions, clobbering 14 sixes and four fours during his 66-ball display at the crease.
Kristopher faced up only 50 balls knocking ten sixes and four fours.
Both players have been playing hard-ball professionally representing various teams and also this Province in Canada-Cricket’s tournament at the Under-19 level.
When Panthers batted, Avinash Basdeo hit a fighting 62 laced with nine sixes from 42
deliveries. Dinesh Ajodha and Rishi Sanchara chipped in with 21 runs apiece as Canada-based Guyanese Mitch Bacchus grabbed 3-37 from three expensive overs. Jordan Bacchus claimed 2-8(2) while Kyle Karran proved his all-round capability by taking two wickets as well but conceded 29 runs from his maximum four overs. Reggie Lalsaran also accounted for two victims (2-37) in his four-overs outing.
Meanwhile, details from the other games in a subsequent post. Semi-finals are slated for August 26th with matches across the Greater Toronto Area, though.
This Saturday, the 10-10 Adana Homes knockout competition will continue with the quarter-final showdown.
Their parents are Canada-based Guyanese.
