The financial state of municipalities a source of interest

Dear Editor,

So, the City’s coffers are empty and no budget for the year (News Room, Aug 10), with half the year gone, is it a case of more of the same? The former deputy mayor now mayor and his predecessor, who had much to say on his departure, must explain this poor state of affairs.  Wasn’t there a chairman of the finance committee, a position held by an individual for decades?  Explanations too must be garnered from this source on the daunting financial crisis facing the new council, with some old faces in the mix.  New day…new council… same City story…no money…and the citizenry are the chief bearers of this burden.   Wonder what’s the financial state of the other municipalities around the country?
