Kaieteur Sport – Dozens of parents and guests were in attendance to celebrate the successes of the youngsters as the 4th Annual Shafura Hussain Foundation GolFun Summer Camp came to a close with both a flourish and a degree of sadness for the dozens of kids and parents who really felt it was too soon to end!
Mr. Sampson spoke to the kids about the advantages of Sport and physical education. “This was a great experience for both parents and kids and it’s heartening to see so many kids from all walks of life given the opportunity to take part in such a wonderful program and to see the joy on these faces makes it all so special.”
The camp was sponsored by Movietowne, Banks DIH, Sunshine Snacks, Assuria General Insurance, DDL, Sterling Products, Toolsie Persaud Ltd., Trophy Stall, Darthan Investments Print, TriStone Auto Sales, Party Castle, Balance Waitstaff, Panko Steel, Praetorian Executive Security, UG’s VC Paloma Mohamed and Westside Golf Course.
Through their generosity, kids from the Enmore Orphanage and Lions Clubs were also included for with training in golf, physical fitness, Archery and each day, all parents and kids were provided with snacks (Sunshine Snacks), ice-cream (Sterling Products) and beverages (Banks DiH). Movietowne Guyana provided gift vouchers to the movies for the top players.
Head Coach Aleem Hussain thanked all the sponsors and supporters who helped to make the camp a success especially Camp Coordinators Philip Haynes, Al Wilson, Nikita Ashby and Coaches Vishal, Roy, August, Harry along with Coach Narda Mohamed Mangra and members of ProArchers and the Archery Academy.
All attendees were presented with certificates of completion and at the conclusion, a Drive, Chip and Putt competition was held for the different age group and categories.

First Place: Raul Narine; Second Place: Ivan Permaul; Third Place: Dakarai Victorrine; Fourth Place: Devendra Guroodat
Girls, aged 5-10
First Place: Kailey Liverpool; Second Place: Asriel Bonnie; Third Place: Brittania Hermitt; Fourth Place: Adina Arjune
