Kaieteur News – An 18-year-old was taken into police custody on Saturday, for allegedly stabbing his older brother, Henry Sam Bowin to death at their Lot 139 Mon Repos, East Coast of Demerara home.
According to information reaching the police, the stabbing took place sometime around 08:45hrs yesterday. It was reported that Bowin, a 20-year-old fisherman of Smith Creek, North West District, Region One, resided with the suspect temporarily at Mon Repos when the stabbing occurred.
Reports are that about 09:00 hrs yesterday, the suspect went over to a neighbour’s yard with a knife in his hand, sat in front of the verandah and mentioned that he had just “bore up” his brother. He had what appeared to be blood on his chest.
Shortly after the police were summoned, and ranks found the suspect sitting in the neighbour’s yard with what appeared to be blood on his skin.
The ranks took possession of the knife, which has since been lodged, and arrested the suspect who was taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Emergency Medical Technicians upon arrival at the scene pronounced Bowin dead. Upon examination of his body, it was reported that a wound was seen on his throat and there was also a wound on his right hand.
His body was then taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem. An investigation is ongoing.
