Kaieteur News – Police in Region Seven are currently investigating the death of Ally Edwards, a resident of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway who was killed on Friday after the truck he was travelling in toppled while descending a hill at Lion Mountain trail.
According to reports, the fatal incident which claimed the life of 27-year-old Edwards and left his porter, Andrew Bromes, 19, of Kuru Kururu injured, occurred sometime around 17:30hrs on Friday.
Reports are, motor lorry GWW 2078 owned and driven by Edwards was heading south along the eastern side of Lion Mountain trail at a fast rate, and while descending a hill, the driver lost control and collided with a mud wall (Baranka) on the trail. As a result of this, the truck ended up flipping several times, resulting in the driver and occupant receiving injuries on their bodies.
The police revealed that Bromes was picked up in an unconscious condition and rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where he regained consciousness. He was seen and examined by a Doctor who treated him for lacerations to his feet and abrasions about the body. He was admitted and is receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, Edwards was pinned in the cab and was deemed unresponsive. He was removed from the wrecked truck and taken to the Bartica hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead. His body is presently at the Bartica Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a post mortem examination. An investigation is ongoing.
