Beacons ends perfect run of Cup holders Rivers View

Kaieteur Sports – Defending champions of the Bartica FA Senior Men’s League(SML) Rivers View had their perfect run upstaged last Friday night at the Bartica Community Centre ground by former champions Beacons FC.

A match-winning brace from Whitney Welcome inspired the Beacons’ 4th win of the season as they moved to the top of the points table on 14 points after six matches.

Rivers View took the lead in the 4th minute of play thanks to Omerio Lake, but Welcome levelled the score six minutes later. Six minutes into the 2nd period Welcome gave Beacons the lead for the first time. In the 56th minute, Oswin Joseph stretched the lead to 3-1, before Lake completed his double and final goal of the contest 2 minutes later.

It was the first loss in 5 games and left Rivers View on 12 points and 3rd place. There will be more action tomorrow night(Monday 7th) at the Bartica Community Centre ground where both sides will be involved again. Rivers View oppose Mil Ballers at 7 pm and at 9pm Beacons meet Rising Stars.
