Kaieteur News – The New York (NY) Tri-State Chapter of the Bishops’ High School on Thursday donated a quantity of media devices to the school at its Carmichael Street, Georgetown location.
The devices include several computers, cameras and Central Processing Units (CPU). The devices are expected to prepare, boost, and enhance students’ academic performance. The equipment are intended to enhance both the teaching experience of teachers and the learning experience of students in the manifold subject areas delivered at the institution, the school said.
Gail Nues, a member of the school’s Alumni focus on ensuring the betterment for the students.
“The whole idea behind the project is to make sure Bishops’ High School students benefit equally,” Mrs. Nues stated.
Similarly, Leslie Sue former President of the NY Tri-State Chapter and a member of the school’s Board of Governors said, “The New York Tri-State Chapter has since started its inception contribution to the Bishop High School in 2018, while they were doing a mentorship programme with students and one thing that was recognized was a need for the Media Room.”
Meanwhile, the headmistress of the Bishops’ High School, Shandrina Welcome-Lee thanked the Alumni for its donation.
“This project will be extremely helpful and instrumental in the education of the students and the audio visual needs of teachers,” she said while disclosing that the Ministry of Education (MoE) intends to mark examinations digitally in the future and the equipment handed over will significantly assist the students.
Further, the alumni have also assisted the school’s basketball players who are currently on a familiarization trip to Washington, DC, United States. Welcome-Lee noted too that the visit to Washington will not only enhance the students’ skills in the sport but provide a holistic experience that will benefit them in the future.
