Kaieteur Sports – Former Guyana youth player Chris Patandin struck a magnificent, unbeaten 100 for Majestic Cricket Club last Sunday in the continuation of the 2023 New York National Cricket League 40-overs competition.
Playing at Bay Park, the left-handed Patandin highlighted his knock with eight fours and four sixes as his team posted up a sufficient 300-4 from the allotted 40-overs against Empire Cricket Club.
Majestic Cricket Club did a fine job with the ball as well keeping Empire Cricket Club to 223-6 at the expiration of the 40-overs despite a brilliant 129 not out from Dassram Raghunandan.
Patandin occupied the crease for 95 balls and shared a beautiful 122-run fourth-wicket stand with Rajiv Ivan who contributed 54. Earlier, opener Derick Narine laid the foundation with an impressive 78 while Dino Choo-wee-nam chipped in with 40.
Although Patandin caught the eyes of spectators with his sensational batting display, the elegant left-handed Raghunandan also stunned them with his batting performance. He was able to tuck away seven fours and four sixes from 110 balls. Vijay Surajpaul made 29 to offer a fight as well as Javed Karim took 2-12 from five off-spin overs.
Meanwhile, the 14-team round-robin competition is slated continue on Sunday with a bunch of matches.
Empire Cricket Club will meet up table-topper Queens United Sports Cricket Club at Idlewild venue, while Majestic Cricket Club come up against Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club at Bay Park.
Majestic Cricket Club is currently sitting at number 4 with seven victories from ten games. Debutant team Empire cricket Club has been less-fancied having struggling at number 11 with only two wins.
