Kaieteur News – A Guyanese re-migrant, who returned from neighbouring Venezuela two months ago, was on Saturday night killed by bicycle bandits.
Dead is Fazal Khan better known as ‘Chris’.
Khan and his colleague from work were reportedly pounced on by bicycle bandits at the corner of Regent and Wellington Streets, Georgetown. The two men just had left their workplace and went to that location to purchase Chinese food.
Khan’s relatives told Kaieteur News that after robbing the men, the bicycle bandits turned back and stabbed Khan four times before fleeing the scene.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) but later succumbed while receiving treatment.
Relatives alleged that the hospital failed to inform the police immediately about Khan’s injury and believe that this may impact the investigation.
Khan was a tailor by profession and had lived in Venezuela for some 40 years. He recently returned to Guyana to work. Only two weeks ago he acquired some cash to purchase a sewing machine so that he could monetize his skills and take care of his family.
