Kaieteur Sports – Potaro Strikers brushed aside Mil Ballers 5-1 in the latest match of the Senior Men’s League (SML) of the Bartica FA played last Wednesday night at the Bartica Community Centre ground.
A treble by Daniel Gardener and a brace from Deon Hall secured the 3rd win in 5 outings for the Strikers who occupy 3rd place in the table on 10 points. Gardener netted in the 2nd, 50th and 61st minutes of play, while Hall scored in the 4th and 7th minutes. Amano Williams got a late consolation for Ballers in the 76th minute.
The other game of the double-header gifted AK Galaxy 3 vital points without kicking a ball as Agatash Unites failed to show up. Galaxy now improve to 7 points after 5 matches, while Agatash remain 2nd from the bottom on a single point after 4 games.
Meanwhile in the Capital City, play will resume this weekend with 2 double-headers over the weekend in the Georgetown FA’s SML, however, the action has been switched from the GFC ground to the National Training Facility at Providence.
At a General Council meeting held last Tuesday night at the GFC pavilion it was decided to seek a second look by the GFC executive on the current ground rental arrangements which according the GFA is proving too costly to continue playing at the Bourda ground.
Matches slated for Saturday beginning at 2pm will see East Veldt oppose Order and Discipline and at 4 pm it will be Beacon FC against Camptown FC. On Sunday, GFC tackle Black Pearl at 2pm, then Vengy meet Riddim Squad at 4pm.
