Kaieteur Sports – The Draughts tournament which was played last Sunday came off with a bang after the suspension during Covid 19. Steve Bacchus with 17 points was the winner in the A class. A tie breaker between Jiaram and Godfrey George, who ended on 14 points each, saw Jiaram taking the nod for the second place.
In the B class, Lyndon Heywood emerged the winner with 19 points while Aubrey Rowe took the second place with 18 points. Navin Meighbarran occupied the third position with 14 points.
Trophies were awarded to all the winners’ compliments of the National Draughts Association. President of the Association said that the next tournament is scheduled for October when the Annual National Tournament would be played. He promised that this is going to be a big event and the games would be contested for the A and B on the 8 X 8 and the 10 X 10 international boards.
