– President Singh says Federation/fighters confident ahead of competition
Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF) on Tuesday announced their six-member team ahead up the upcoming Pan American Championships.
The competition will kick off in Bogota, Colombia from August 7-14 and during yesterday’s press conference at the Palm Court Sports Bar, Main Street, president of the GMMAF Gavin Singh, announced the team members.
Captain Corwin D’Anjou (welterweight division), Carl Ramsay (light heavyweight Division), Christopher James (heavyweight division), Ijaz Cave (middleweight Division), Shenese Bobb (lightweight division) and Anevia Frank (bantamweigh division), will represent Guyana.
Singh during his remarks about the tournament and the fighter’s expectations, he said, “To ensure that they are well-prepared for the grueling competition, each member has undergone rigorous training under the direction of experienced coaches and CrossFit at Exodus Gym.”
“The squad is getting ready for the task with the assistance of Technical Director Roland Fanfair and renowned coach Troy Bobb. In order to protect the health of the athletes, the GYMMAF has engaged the assistance of Maria Roberts-Perriera, and Dr. Sawan Jagnarian, who will give essential medical and advising support.”
Some of the fighter’s recently returned home with 2 silver medals from their invitational competition held in Mexico.

Meanwhile, the private entity Fight Central was appointed as the official promotional organization by the GMMAF.
Rebecca Ganesh Fight Central executive member said, “Fight Central is happy to be part of these games, from the inception of MMA in Guyana, we were the pioneers that brought Guyana this sport. We are proud to support the last trajectory of the Federation and will continue to support the admin body especially when it has to do with fighter improvement. Fight Central is supported by its sister companies, WRSI [W Rambaran Services Incorporated], and Sublime Security Services.”
Pan American Mixed Martial Arts President Jason Fraser, who delivered the second feature address of the press conference, said the decision by the local federation will for the competing athletes to have their fights certified on the international stage.
Fraser further stated that while other promotions are also eligible to acquire the sanctioning rights and status, Fight Central is the official promotion to stage events under the IMMAF umbrella.
