Dear Editor,
I’ve seen a video of the alleged victim of the recent rape matter giving a public lecture, to whom it may concern, in the wider public. First off, we know it’s illegal to show the likeness of an underaged complainant or accused in the media. Now the young lady’s rant raises more questions than answers.
If as she claims, there was no rape, that it was a fabrication in some people’s minds, then why didn’t she at the first instance just plainly say so. She allowed herself to visit the locus in quo, allegedly made relevant statements to the CID and allowed herself to be interviewed exhaustively by both Help and Shelter and Blossom NGO.
Now, editor, one becomes very curious to have a glimpse of the results of the two interviewing sessions. Could there be any proof that the statements circulating in the media were false? If there is any truth in the original statement that was circulated, and could she not now be brought before the Court for incitement to commit a felony? I wonder if this girl understands the firestorm that has now been ignited. If she is eventually proven wrong, who would want to support genuine cases in the future? The family allegedly engaged two lawyers who were denied access to her during her supposed inquisition. How are we to factor this fact into the whole mix? We the people demand an impartial inquiry into this entire affair. Mr. Joe Singh does not have the tools to tackle this mess. We need a legal forensic expert to sort it out.
Regards,
Cyril Walker
