Kaieteur News – The charred remains of 38-year-old Terry Persaud Lall, a fisherman, was on Sunday night pulled from his Lot 4 Paradise, Essequibo Coast, Region Two home.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that based on investigations, the fire of unknown origin, started around 21:30hours.
Enquiries disclosed that Lall lived alone in a one-flat concrete house on the western side of the Paradise Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Lall’s sister, Somattie Persaud, a 41-year-old security guard who lives in the same yard, told the police that around 13:00 hours on Sunday, her brother left his home and went to Lake Mainstay.
She added that around 19:00 hours on Sunday, she saw her brother return and entered his house. Persaud said that her brother was under the influence of alcohol. The woman disclosed that at around 21:30 hours, she was at her home when she saw a fire coming from her brother’s house.
The Fire Service and the police were immediately informed. By the time firefighters extinguished the fire, the western half of the house was completely destroyed.
Lall’s burnt body was seen among the debris. It was subsequently removed and taken to the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post mortem examination (PME).
