Hard truths…

Kaieteur News – Who are the biggest thieves in this country? Who are the biggest liars in Guyana? Who are the biggest deceivers and con actors in this society? Always, the answer is the same: PPP comrades and cronies. The sources of answers, authors of the same positions to all three questions (and similar ones), have a shocking parent. They are PPP supporters. Cool-eyed, sober headed, tempered loyalists of the People’s Progressive Party. These are not of the wild-eyed, foaming variety of fanatics, but citizens who know lunatics when they see, hear, and are around, them. I have frequently warned this nation, lunatics in Guyana are not a fringe element. Rather, the local lunatic fringe is the broad center, huge unclosed circle of the population. It cannot be closed because there are new arrivals every day, armed with one intention: to outdo the lunatics who came before them. Political retardation, it is.
Truth be known, the PNC has its own plentiful share of lunatics. Though abundant, the PNC lunatics cannot hold a cup (no pun, slur intended) to the number of their counterparts in the PPP, and the degree of lunacy that belongs to them, in the locust blights that they have for leaders and heroes; in the crooked cabal that they make into their role models. They are everywhere and into every aspect of Guyanese life. Need a distorter of facts and circumstances, go no farther than the newspaper, broader media. Need acquaintance with the fanatics in the teeming cesspool that is Guyana, then journey into the battlegrounds of cyberspace, and there they are; societal Cyclops and political Attila(s) and ayatollahs. Plus, there is the army of unreconstructed retards that populate the electronic caves they have reserved for themselves. To witness a national lunatic uprising or parade, say one word. Elections! Try another: PPP! Or this: PNC!
Both confirmed PPP and PNC lunatics are present, but for every PNC lunatic in Guyana, there are a half dozen PPP ones. Reasoning dropped dead; logic is a lost cause. The first, worst hit casualty was truth; regard for temperance and textured conversation collapsed into the latrine. Guyanese have looked, laughed (and cringed) at the last American President that lost the White House in ignominy, and patented madness, only for many craven imitations of the same paranoiac and lunatic to take up vociferous residence right here.
Here is the standing classic, the number one hit from PPP lunatics. When pressed and cornered about confirmed banditries and land piracies by PPP big dogs, there are two responses. The first is there is no law on the books under which blatant wrongdoings can be categorized. This is the level of logic, of morality, of lunacy that has come down from the higher elevations to the foot soldiers on the ground. PPP (and PNC) fundamentalists make the fellows from the other side of the world look like pacifists and punks. The second defense of the PPP malfeasances by their own tribalists is that the PNC used to do that, too.
If this is not lunacy, then all Guyanese need psychotherapy. Do these people ever stop to think about what they are saying? For, if the corrupt was what the PNC made a killing doing, then the so-called clean and transparent and accountable (per the president) PPP would never want to follow in such criminal footsteps. How could previous PNC thievery be used as the basis to justify today’s PPP thievery? Is that the extent of local wisdom, ethics? Where is the truth in anyone? Why should any supporter of any party with any morsel of honesty and decency in him or her condone the dirtiness of mortal political foes, and then uphold same in their own group? It is unbelievable that lunatic minded supporters, some well-schooled, would applaud, when it is their own party and own stalwarts that are now employing the same tricks, cons, and brigandage that were used to such criminal advantage before by political adversaries.
This is a reversal of all that is normal, which is now culture and religion in both the PPP and PNC today. Look at one, and there is the mirror image of the other. The difference is the scale of wrongdoing. With the influx of massive monies having to do with oil and other natural resources patrimonies, the PPP is in the driver’s seat to capitalize on unending crimes, and its people do. The first law is that there is no law, other than what they make up to give a gloss over crookedness. The first rule is that the only rules that apply are the ones that the PPP brass say have traction, and it doesn’t apply to people in the ruling party. It is what has now become part of the binding covenants they make with one another, to protect one another. One precious fellow loves to speak about reform, when all that is done is misinform.
In this upside-down country, lunacy is now a call to party duty; lunacy is no longer a sickness. In Guyana, lunacy is considered to be close to godliness. It is the national religion, like personal corruption.
