Kaieteur News – A 29-year-old man of Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was on Sunday killed in a hit and run accident along the Foulis Access Road.
The dead man was identified as Amir Bassalut. It was reportedly that Bassalut was struck down around 01:30hrs. Police suspect a motorcycle might have struck him down.
According to police, Bassalut was walking north along the eastern side of the road when an unknown vehicle struck him down in the vicinity of 15th Street, Foulis. Instead of stopping to render assistance the driver or rider continued on their journey
Police said that they picked-up Bassalut in an unconscious state and took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police launched an investigation and were led to arrest a 23-year-old motorcyclist for questioning after learning that he had a damaged bike.
“His motorcycle, which had damages to the left side front and traces of blood, was taken to the Cove and John Police Station, where it was lodged to be examined by a certifying officer,” police stated.
