Kaieteur News – An alleged thief reportedly promised his victim, a national cricketer, Ashmead Nedd , that he was going help them get back their stolen items but has failed to deliver on that promise after being released from police custody.
Nedd’s home at Herstelling, East Bank of Demerara (EBD) was burglarised on the morning of June 30. He and his relatives awoke around 03:00hrs only to find their home broken into and valuables missing.
Apart from stealing cell phones and other electronics from his home, the thief or thieves stole some $200,000 worth of cricket gear. “Is a lot of cricket gear I have I can’t really say is wha and wa them carry but a few cricket items like Amazon Warriors Merchandises and other branded gear”, Nedd told Kaieteur News.
He added that they had managed to snatch a prime suspect who had promised to take them to where the stolen items were. “He was saying that he was going to take us to give us our stuff”, Nedd said while adding that police arrested the man but later released him. Since the suspect’s release he has failed to return the items or show Nedd where the stolen goods are.
