Kaieteur Sports – Two former Guyana youth cricketers Kandasammy Surujnarine and Harrinarine Chattergoon struck 116 not out and 102 respectively to help Apollo Sports Club to a resounding 84-run win over Dream Crushers Cricket Club in the continuation of the 2023 Canadian Commonwealth Cricket Association of Toronto 40-overs competition.
Playing at Norfinch Cricket Ground, Apollo Sports Club raced to a imposing 302-7 from the 40-overs while Dream Crushers, in reply, were all out for 218 in the 33rd over.
The right-handed Surujnarine hammered five sixes and 11 fours during his entertaining 99-ball stay at the crease, while Chattergoon, the younger brother of form West Indies opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon, clobbered 12 sixes and five fours off 64 deliveries.
They two also engaged in a steady 132-run third-wicket stand after another two ex-Guyana youth players Nathan Persaud (00) and Sharaz Ramcharran (02) departed early.
Right-arm seamer and captain Manas Manan grabbed three wickets for 38 runs from five overs while Raman Singh picked up two for 32 off four overs.
When Dream Crushers Cricket Club batted, their innings got some momentum from Raman Preet Singh who stroked an impressive and combative 80, an innings laced with 10 sixes and two fours while Lalit Lamba made 27.
Chattergoon returned with the ball to claim 3-40 from seven off-spin overs, while Raman Singh supported with 2-32 (04).
The 14-team round-robin competition is slated to continue this weekend with a number of matches across the Greater Toronto Area.
