Kaieteur News – Six persons including a heavily-pregnant woman and a child are now homeless after a fire late Tuesday night destroyed their home at Poker Street, Wismar, Linden.
The fire started around 22:30 hrs, however no one was at the Poker Street, Wismar residence. Family member, Lovern Jacks, received the news around 23:00 hrs. while at work. Though she and the others rushed home, they were unable to save anything. Fire fighters suspected that the fire was maliciously set and evidence shows that the suspect broke into the window and exited through the back door before setting the fire. “Nothing, nothing ain’t get to save, we lose millions because the house was fully furnished, three chair set, two freezers, one fridge, bed and everything, nothing, nothing ain’t save,” the distraught Jacks said.
Jacks and her family lived in the three-bedroom flat concrete house close to three decades and recently they pooled their resources together to renovate the house in excess of $2 million dollars.
Family members are now seeking refuge at the homes of relatives. “Right now it is very much difficult at the moment, one of the girls getting baby all the clothes everything damaged. Everything burn up, we might gah bunk on one another tonight to sleep somewhere,” she said.
