Kaieteur Sports – In the ongoing Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/KFC Elite League 2023, Season Five continued with an exhilarating encounter between Guyana Police Force (GPF) Football Club (FC) and Buxton United FC at the GFF National Training Centre in Providence. The match turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Lawmen dominated and secured a resounding 6-0 victory over Buxton United. The GPF FC moved to the number four spot with 15 points including five wins for six matches.
Right from the start, GPF displayed their prowess, establishing a comfortable lead within the first forty-five minutes of play. Jemar Harrigan opened the scoring for GPF with an early goal in the 8th minute, setting the tone for their dominant performance. Daren Benjamin further extended their advantage with a well-executed strike in the 38th minute, taking the Lawmen to a commanding 2-0 lead by halftime.
In the second half, GPF continued their relentless attack, and their efforts were rewarded when Nicholas McArthur successfully converted a penalty in the 52nd minute, widening the gap to 3-0. The remarkable Dorwin George and Junior Redman showed their skills in the latter part of the second half, collectively adding three more goals to the GPF’s tally. George netted a late brace in the 76th and 83rd minutes, while Redman contributed a goal in the 80th minute, ultimately extending GPF’s lead to an impressive 6-0.
Despite Buxton United’s valiant efforts, they were unable to breach the Lawmen’s impenetrable defence. The dominance of GPF FC took its toll on Buxton United’s morale, leading to errors and missed opportunities for the opposing team. As the final whistle blew, the 6-0 scoreline emphatically reflected GPF’s complete control over the match. The Accurate Lawmen emerged as deserving winners, showcasing an impressive array of goal-scoring prowess throughout the game.
The excitement continues today, Thursday, at the same venue from 7.00pm with Ann`s Grove United Football Club going up against Victoria Kings FC, while Guyana Police Force FC tackle Milerock FC at 9.30pm.
