Dear Editor,
Flooding has begun to occur in parts of the world which usually don’t experience such intense rainfall. Looking at what is happening in India, Vermont and Japan, I am reminded of the seasonal flooding that occurs in our Capital.
With the increasing rainfall, we must shift our focus to improving our sea defense and drainage.
The works being done are usually reactive and not proactive. The actions of the Ministry of Infrastructure must place a higher emphasis on preventing future flooding. It is worrying to see that there is yet to be extensive work done throughout the Capital and along the coast of such magnitude that future flooding will not occur.
With concern,
Mr. Jamil Changlee
