Kaieteur News – Thirty-two-year-old Parmanand Persaud also known as ‘Jason’ of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was on Thursday arrested by ranks of the Custom Anti- Narcotics Units (CANU) after he was found with $10.6M worth of cocaine in his car.
According to CANU, ranks conducted an operation at the Young Professional Housing Scheme, EBD, where they intercepted a motorcar bearing registration Number PVV 4385, with male occupant.
The vehicle was searched in the presence of Persaud when ranks found nine brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine.
Persaud was immediately arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic. The CANU said that the narcotic tested positive as cocaine and weighed approximately 23 lbs. (about 10.52 kg) with a street value of approximately GUY $10.6M.
Investigations are ongoing.
