Kaieteur News – Two security guards were on Tuesday charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Making their first court appearance were: Derwin Drakes, 27, of Roxanne Burnham Gardens and Sherwyn Quincy Davis, 31, of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme. They appeared before acting Chief Magistrate, Sherdell Isaacs-Marcus.
Kaieteur News understands that Drake was charged for the Possession of Firearm without License and Possession of Ammunition without License Contrary to Section 16 (2)(a) of the Firearms Act Chapter 16:05. He pleaded not guilty and bail was granted in the sum of $75,000 for each charge. The matter was adjourned to July 20, 2023 and transferred to the Sparendaam Magistrate Court for statements. As for Davis, he was also charged with Possession of Firearm without License and Possession of Ammunition without License which occurred on Tuesday 27th July 2023 at Fantasy Casino. Davis pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail to the tune of $75,000 for each charge. His matter was adjourned to July 19, 2023.
