Kaieteur News – Security cameras on Sunday captured an elderly man running away and leaving his wife in their car after two bicycle bandits attacked them in front of their home at Laluni and Ornoque Street Streets, Queenstown, Georgetown.
According to the footage seen by this newspaper, the bandits attacked around 00:30 hrs on Sunday.
The couple was seen pulling up in front of their gate. The husband stepped out of the car while his wife remained seated. While walking towards the gate, two men dressed in hats, dark jerseys and denim jeans pulled up.
The footage showed them dismounting their bikes and running towards the man.
One of them pulled out what appeared to be a large knife and after realizing that they were about to be robbed, the husband sprinted away and attempted to scale his fence, but he was not quick enough. One of the bandits dragged him down from behind, “viced” him while raiding his pockets.
His wife attempted to escape from the car too but before she could do so, the other bandit shoved her back into the car and held her down as he snatched something from her purse.
Kaieteur News understands that the bandits robbed the couple of their cell phones and some cash.
As the bandits were escaping on their bicycles, the heavily built woman stepped out of the car and fired some blows behind them as they rode off.
She was also seen firing some blows behind her husband as well perhaps for trying to run away leaving her stranded.
