Dear Editor,
Many in Guyana and around the world was interested in the outcome of the grooming an buggery allegation against a serving minister. If anyone was expecting any persecution, they not really familiar with the mechanism in place to protect the rich and powerful in Guyana.
I wasn’t surprise with the delay tactics used by the DPP by sending back the file to the Guyana Police Force for further investigation. Apparently if you don’t have the right connections, you could be persecuted very fast, many innocent and lots for frivolous matter. Out of curiosity, can the public be educated as to the reason why the DPP send back the file for further investigation? Who lapse and would actions be taken against the errant individuals?
Editor, whilst the victim chose to sign a NFA, it tells me that the allegations are indeed true. Her reluctance to seek justice would surely motivate other predators to commits similar acts, because justice in slo2 and one-sided in Guyana. I sincerely hope that all the furor she cause is rewarding for her, especially the embarrassment she faced after making such allegations. Now, given all the happening, will the accused remain on his job when his leave is finished? I shudder to think what treatment the staff at that ministry was enduring before the allegations surfaced.
Regards,
Sahadeo Bates
