ExxonmMobil U18 Boys and Girls Schools Basketball Festival
Kaieteur Sports – Day two of the ExxonMobil National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) saw intense competition on Sunday at the National Gymnasium located along Mandela Avenue. The event, sponsored by ExxonMobil and supported by the National Sports Commission (NSC), Edward B Beharry Limited, and G-Boats GY, proved to be a platform for budding basketball stars to shine.
U18 Boys Division Highlights:
In the U18 Boys category, Christ Church Secondary defeated Diamond Secondary with a final score of 29-19. Kwame Huntley led the charge for Christ Church with an impressive performance of 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Tyrese Bancraft contributed 7 points and 10 rebounds. Benkai King and Andrew Cameron displayed their prowess for Diamond, scoring 10 and 5 points respectively, along with Cameron’s 6 rebounds.
Tutorial High secured a narrow victory against School of Nations, finishing the game with 23 points to 22. Zeldro Haynes stood out for Tutorial, tallying 9 points and 8 rebounds, while Yeeknahyah Yisrael added 6 points to their victory. Ethan Raghoo’s remarkable performance of 10 points and 4 rebounds stood out for School of Nations.
Queens College (QC) dominated Camille’s Academy, ending the game with a resounding 48-14 victory. Owen Hooper spearheaded Queens College’s triumph with 18 points, supported by Ezekiel Griffith’s 10 points and 9 rebounds. Fuad Bacchus showcased his skills for Camile’s Academy, contributing 9 points and 4 rebounds.
Meanwhile, in a closely contested match, Mahaicony Technical Institute (MTI) secured a narrow victory over Lower Corentyne Secondary, edging them out with a final score of 24-22. Joel Estriado led the way for MTI with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Nehum Rigby contributed 6 points and an impressive 12 rebounds. Qualon Crandon’s 10 points were crucial in their triumph.
New Amsterdam (NA) Multilateral emerged victorious against Covent Garden, displaying a dominant performance with a final score of 40-8. Xavier Ferreira had a good day for NA Multilateral with 12 points and 5 rebounds, closely followed by Timothy Persaud’s 11 points and 6 rebounds. Jared Dainty and Joshua Hamilton also made significant contributions to their team’s success.
Government Technical Institute (GTI) outplayed St. Rose’s High, securing a 44-32 win. Peter Langevine and Martin Edwards showcased their skills, scoring 13 and 10 points respectively, while Javier St. Claire added 8 points to their victory. Carmelo Mansonhing’s remarkable performance of 32 points and 5 rebounds stood out for St. Rose’s High.
U18 Girls Division Highlights:
Over in the U18 Girls division, Kwakwani dominated School Girls Combined, ending the game with an impressive scoreline of 48-0. Lanesha Mohammed led the way for Kwakwani with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Sherel Leacoch contributed 8 points. Brian Benjamin and D’Ja Garraway also played vital roles in their team’s success. While, Marian Academy triumphed over Bishops’ High with a 10-2 scoreline. Angel Ramjaram led the way for Marian with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Princess Bond contributed 2 points to their victory. Lashaunte Berkley’s notable performance of 2 points.
Action continued yesterday at the same venue.
