Kaieteur Sports – The Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) and ExxonMobil joined forces to kick off the Regional Basketball Under-18’s conference, setting the stage for an exhilarating start to the Boy’s and Girl’s Under-18 National Schools Basketball Festival.
Held on Friday at the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Officers’ Training Centre in Georgetown, the conference served as a platform to educate, inform, and prepare participants for the upcoming competition.
Started on July 1st and set to conclude on July 16th, the highly anticipated National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) promises two weeks of intense basketball action.
The tournament will take place at the renowned National Gymnasium, located on Mandela Avenue. With over forty top-tier high schools and a total of fifty-six teams, the NSBF will showcase talent from various divisions, all vying for the ultimate glory of being crowned champions.
Yesterday, the ExxonMobil NSBF commenced with great enthusiasm, featuring an impressive lineup of seven exhilarating matches. The tournament opener marked the beginning of an intense battle among the participating teams. As the title sponsor for this prestigious event, ExxonMobil continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to supporting youth basketball, reinforcing their dedication to community services and capacity building among young athletes.
It is noteworthy that this is the second consecutive year that ExxonMobil has pledged its support to youth basketball in Guyana.
The 2023 NSBF promises to be a thrilling event, featuring some of the most prominent teams in the region. Powerhouse schools such as Saints, New Amsterdam Multilateral, Bishops, President College, and Marian Academy are among the notable participants who will showcase their skills and compete for the coveted championship titles.
The tournament’s success and impact would not be possible without the generous contributions of the sponsors. Alongside ExxonMobil, the National Sports Commission (NSC), G-Boats Guyana and Beharry Group of companies have also stepped up to support this remarkable sporting event.
