Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s short-handed women’s 3×3 team faced a challenging match at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador, ultimately losing 8-21 against the Dominican Republic.
Due to flight delays from the US to San Salvador, the Guyanese team had to compete without Ruth Adams, a professional based in Spain.
This left Shania Sears, Jamaicy Ogle, and Kennesha Leacock to confront a strong Dominican Republic team.
Leacock, the sole player on the team with prior international 3×3 experience, displayed resilience despite the odds, but their struggles with shooting as a team hindered their performance.
Capitalizing on their size advantage, the Dominican Republic women outmatched their Guyanese counterparts with relative ease.
Following yesterday’s match, Guyana will press on in the tournament and face off against Centro Caribe Sports today at 3:00 pm. (Rawle Toney)
